Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage made the first start of his rookie season Tuesday night against the Boston Red Sox.
The 22-year-old righty didn't match his World Series heroics but delivered a strong performance, leading the Blue Jays to a 3-0 victory. After starting the season on the injured list with a shoulder impingement, Yesavage pitched 5.1 innings of shutout ball, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out three.
Toronto's offense provided support with RBI singles from Kazuma Okamoto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Yesavage received a standing ovation from fans when he exited the game. He's coming off a stellar 2024 postseason where he helped the Blue Jays win their first AL pennant in 32 years.
