Jacob Misiorowski was in top form, but had to leave the game early. The Milwaukee Brewers' young star exited Friday's 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals with a right hamstring cramp after pitching 5 1/3 hitless innings. He threw 85 pitches, striking out eight and walking two batters.
After delivering a 98.9 mph pitch to James Wood, Misiorowski called for the trainer without showing visible pain. The Brewers confirmed the cramp shortly after, replacing him with reliever Aaron Ashby, who kept the no-hitter intact until the seventh inning when Daylen Lile hit a double.
Misiorowski left as the MLB strikeout leader with 59 on the season. The hardest-throwing starter in baseball, he reached 103 mph against the Nationals. The 24-year-old, in his second MLB season, is a top-10 contender for the NL Cy Young Award.
