A Chaotic Evening in Washington
UFC CEO Dana White was among the notable guests at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner this past Saturday when the event was abruptly halted by the sound of gunfire inside the ballroom. In the moments following the incident, White shared his firsthand account of the unfolding crisis with notable intensity.
White's Reaction to the Security Breach
Describing the scene, White recalled the sudden escalation of tension within the venue:
«Inside, they started up. All of a sudden, it just started getting noisy. Tables getting flipped over, guys running in with guns and they were screaming ‘Get down!’ I didn’t get down — it was awesome. I literally took every minute of it in. It was a pretty crazy, unique experience.»
Observers noted that White appeared remarkably energized while recounting the events to the media. The UFC executive, a known associate of President Donald Trump, mentioned he was seated near the front of the ballroom, directly in the President's vicinity. During the initial moments of the commotion, White admitted he initially believed the threat might have been positioned in his immediate area as Secret Service agents swarmed the stage.
Details of the Investigation and Aftermath
According to official reports, the individual in question managed to bypass security checkpoints at the Washington Hilton while armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives. Gunshots echoed through the ballroom before law enforcement officials intervened and apprehended the suspect, who is currently in custody.
During the security sweep, President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other high-ranking officials were quickly evacuated from the main stage. Following the lockdown, President Trump announced intentions to organize a rescheduled dinner within the next month.
The event comes at a time of increased collaboration between the two figures, as their offices are currently coordinating the preparations for UFC Freedom 250, which is slated to take place on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14.
