A Patriotic Preview at the Oval Office

With only thirty days remaining until the historic UFC event at the White House, the four headlining athletes made a trip to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to preview an exclusive championship belt alongside President Donald Trump. The ceremony took place in the Oval Office, featuring the competitors set to fight for titles during the June 14 event.

Highlighting the Stars and the Design

The participants included lightweight champion Ilia Topuria and two-division standout Alex Pereira, joined by their respective challengers, Justin Gaethje and Ciryl Gane. The centerpiece of the meeting was the custom UFC belt, which prominently displays the American flag. The design is specifically intended to commemorate the nation's upcoming 250th Independence Day celebration on July 4.

President Trump spoke briefly to the media about the upcoming matchups, specifically noting Gaethje, the only American fighter among the group. This prompted a lighthearted comment from Topuria, who teased the President by saying: «Why you want to give the toughest test to a friend of yours?»

The Scale of 'UFC Freedom 250'

UFC CEO Dana White has previously noted the logistical challenges of hosting an outdoor athletic showcase on the White House grounds. While the main event space is limited to an audience of 4,500, organizers have arranged for fans to gather at The Ellipse, located across the street. This massive venue, which can hold up to 100,000 spectators, will feature large screens allowing the public to watch the fights at no cost.

Presidential Outlook

Beyond the reveal of the championship hardware, Trump provided insights into the branding of the event, officially titled "UFC Freedom 250." The President expressed high expectations for the spectacle, stating:

«I think it's going to be the biggest event we've ever had at the White House. The White House doesn't really do athletic events for the most part. These are all the greatest champions. They’re the greatest fighters in the world. You can tell by looking at them.»

Highlighting the inclusive nature of the event, Trump concluded by emphasizing that the entire country is invited to witness the proceedings free of charge.
