The second inning showed what Red Sox fans have been waiting for all season: hits in the air, a stolen base, a couple of walks, and everyone keeping the line moving. The team sent nine batters to the plate and scored three runs, breaking the spell and waking everyone from the stupor of the heavy 2026 season.
But that was nothing compared to what was coming next: another three-run inning in the fifth, thanks to a three-run double by Connor Wong. Then, in the ninth inning, the offense exploded with ten hits and ten runs, highlighted by a grand slam from Andruw Monasterio. Both Ceddanne Rafaela and Willson Contreras contributed with two singles and bigger hits, each crossing the plate twice in the inning.
Garrett Crochet was dominant on the mound, pitching six innings with seven strikeouts, allowing only three hits and two walks. The Red Sox also showed small-ball skills with five walks, two stolen bases, and capitalizing on errors. The big offensive outburst included home runs by Caleb Durbin and Monasterio, as well as a triple by Rafaela.
