The tallest basketball player in NCAA history, Olivier Rioux, is searching for a new team this offseason. The 7-foot-9 Florida Gators center has entered the transfer portal following a sophomore season with limited playing time.

Rioux, 20, confirmed his decision on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the team and its fans for their support. He appeared in only 11 games as a sophomore, averaging 0.6 points and 0.5 rebounds in just 1.5 minutes per contest.

He originally joined Florida as a preferred walk-on for the 2024-25 season, which became a redshirt year. Despite limited action, Rioux made history the moment he stepped on the court in November, becoming the tallest player ever to appear in a college basketball game.

Used primarily in mop-up duty, his best performance came in a blowout win over Prairie View A&M, where he recorded 2 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist in two minutes. Prior to Florida, Rioux had a strong amateur career with Canada's FIBA teams, earning two bronze medals.
