Wide receiver A.J. Brown remains with the Philadelphia Eagles for now, but a trade sending him to the New England Patriots is reportedly likely after June 1, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Eagles are motivated to wait until after June 1 due to NFL salary cap rules. Trading Brown before that date would result in a $40 million cap hit all applying to 2026. A post-June 1 trade allows the team to split that massive cap charge between the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
While the deal is not yet finalized and other teams could potentially make a better offer, current indications point to Brown joining the Patriots. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel, who previously coached Brown with the Tennessee Titans, is said to be keen on a reunion. The expected compensation from New England to Philadelphia is believed to include one or more draft picks from the 2027 or 2028 drafts.
