The Philadelphia 76ers, already missing key players, faced another setback as star guard Tyrese Maxey suffered an apparent hand injury in the final minute of a 125-116 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. Head coach Nick Nurse indicated the injury required X-rays.

With under 30 seconds remaining, Maxey collided with teammate Adem Bona while attempting a steal, immediately grabbing his right hand in pain. He left the court with 16.2 seconds left, tucking the injured hand under his jersey.

According to reports, Maxey will undergo additional testing on his right finger on Sunday. The two-time All-Star entered the game averaging a career-high 28.9 points per game and scored 31 points in the loss.

The short-handed Sixers were without Joel Embiid, Paul George, and rookie VJ Edgecombe. Embiid missed his 30th game this season, while George remains suspended. The loss drops Philadelphia to 34-29, holding a slim 1.5-game lead over the Hawks for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Atlanta was led by Jalen Johnson's 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.
