TALLADEGA, Ala. — Carson Hocevar celebrated his first career Cup Series victory by hanging out of his car window at Talladega, pumping up the crowd in a daring move that may soon face scrutiny from NASCAR officials.

Driving the No. 77 Chili's Chevrolet, Hocevar won the Jack Link's 500 by 0.114 seconds over Chris Buescher, sparking a wild celebration in the stands and pit road. The win marked only the second victory in Spire Motorsports' history.

The race saw massive chaos on Lap 116 when Ross Chastain bumped Bubba Wallace, triggering a wreck that involved 25 of 40 cars, including stars like Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch. Hocevar avoided the carnage and managed to outrun the competition in the closing laps.

Hocevar, 23, has long dreamed of this moment. A lifelong NASCAR fan who grew up sleeping under a Dale Earnhardt Jr. comforter, he has faced criticism from rivals like Ryan Blaney and Hamlin for his aggressive driving style. However, his team owner Jeff Dickerson praised his "irrational confidence."

“I've dreamt about this, and it feels like I'm really living the dream,” Hocevar said after the race. “Now it's all getting clear.” The win validates his journey from iRacing enthusiast to Cup winner.
