Glasnow Reaches Milestone Before Early Exit
Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow was forced to leave the game while warming up for the second inning, citing lower back discomfort. Prior to his departure, Glasnow achieved a significant career milestone, recording his 1,000th strikeout. By reaching this mark in just 793 innings, he set a new record for the fastest pitcher to achieve the feat.
According to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, Glasnow noted that his back issue is a recurring concern dating back to his high school years. While he is scheduled for an MRI, manager Dave Roberts indicated that a stint on the injured list is currently considered unlikely.
McCullers Struggles with Finger Injury
Houston’s Lance McCullers Jr. also exited the game prematurely. His troubles began in the second inning when he appeared to be bothered by his finger. He managed to continue pitching for a time but ultimately surrendered six earned runs. As reported by Chandler Rome of The Athletic, McCullers explained that part of the fingernail on his right index finger “popped off” during the third inning, casting doubt on his availability for his next scheduled start.

Both pitchers have lengthy histories with injury management. With a combined decade of MLB experience, the pair has struggled to maintain consistency in their availability. For the Astros, this latest setback adds to an already lengthy list of sidelined players, further complicating their difficult start to the season.
Following the result, the Dodgers improved their standing to 23-14, maintaining their lead in the NL West. Conversely, the Astros continue to face adversity, holding a 15-23 record and remaining in fourth place in the AL West.
