Thunder Injury Update Ahead of Game 7
The Oklahoma City Thunder have officially announced that Jalen Williams will not participate in the pivotal Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs. The organization cited “injury management” as the primary reason for his absence, as Williams continues to struggle with a lingering hamstring strain that has hampered his availability throughout the series.
In addition to Williams, guard Ajay Mitchell has also been ruled out for the upcoming contest due to a right calf strain.
Recovery Struggles
Williams' path to returning has been difficult. After missing six consecutive postseason appearances, he attempted a comeback during Game 1 against San Antonio. Unfortunately, he re-aggravated the hamstring issue in Game 2, leading to further time on the sidelines. He made a brief appearance in Game 6, clocking 10 minutes of play, but recorded only a single point during the Thunder’s significant 27-point defeat.
Adjustments in the Lineup
With Mitchell remaining out since Game 3, the Thunder have relied heavily on Jared McCain to fill the gap. McCain has stepped up significantly in the starting role, posting strong performances including 24 points in Game 3 and 20 points in Game 5.

Oklahoma City narrowly missed an opportunity to close out the series on Thursday, unable to counter another standout performance by Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
