An In-Game Setback

During the final minutes of the New York Knicks' 108-102 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2, forward OG Anunoby sustained an apparent right leg injury. The incident occurred with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter while Anunoby was cutting toward the basket. Despite the discomfort, he attempted to dunk a pass from Josh Hart, though the shot was ultimately blocked by Paul George.

Following a successful possession capped by a Mikal Bridges jumper, Anunoby was seen limping back on defense, signaling to the bench for a substitution. Head coach Mike Brown promptly called a timeout, replacing Anunoby with Miles “Deuce” McBride. Anunoby headed straight to the locker room and did not return for the remainder of the contest.


Post-Game Uncertainty

In his post-game media availability, Coach Brown indicated that he had not received a medical update on his player. «You know, I haven’t talked to anybody. They didn’t say anything. He looked like he was hopping,» Brown told reporters. When asked if further testing would be required, the coach admitted, «I don’t know anything.»

His former coach and current 76ers lead man, Nick Nurse, praised Anunoby’s development, noting: «He’s kind of always been great at D, and then the shooting came. And now he’s kind of — he’ll rebound heavily when they need him. He’ll cut. His cutting game has gotten a lot better.»

The prospect of proceeding without Anunoby looms large as the series prepares to move to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Friday. His teammates recognize the challenge of managing without such a key contributor. «He’s one of the best two-way players in the league, so it’s tough to replace that,» said teammate Miles McBride. «But you don’t replace him with one guy.
