Decision time has arrived once again for LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs on Monday night after a 115-110 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder at Crypto.com Arena. While the undefeated Thunder continue their title defense, the basketball world now focuses on James and his next move.

Shortly after the defeat, James declined to reveal his future plans as he approaches free agency. He stated that he wants to go home and spend time with his family before making any decisions. 'I don’t know. Obviously it’s still fresh from losing,' James said. 'I don’t know what the future holds for me obviously as it stands right now, tonight.'

Speculation has surrounded James for months about a possible retirement. At 41 years old, he has achieved nearly everything in the NBA, including four championships, four MVP awards, and the all-time scoring record. He has played and won more games than anyone else, solidifying his status as one of the greatest players ever.

This season, his 23rd in the league, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game. In Monday’s loss, he recorded 24 points and 12 rebounds. This was his eighth season with the Lakers, the longest stretch with any of the three teams he has played for.

James will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, giving him the freedom to sign a new deal with the Lakers, join another team, or retire. Lakers head coach JJ Redick said he has not thought about James’ future, adding, 'We’ll deal with the offseason in the offseason, which is in the next two months.' The basketball world now awaits James’ announcement.
