The Sacramento Kings have cemented their status as the NBA's worst team, setting a new franchise record with their 15th consecutive loss in a 131-94 blowout against the Orlando Magic on Thursday. The previous record was held by two different streaks from the team's era as the Cincinnati Royals.
Sacramento's last victory was on Jan. 16 against the Washington Wizards. Their record now stands at a dismal 12-45. Thursday's 37-point defeat was the most lopsided of the losing streak, though five of the 15 losses were by fewer than five points.
The Kings' woes are compounded by major injuries. All-Star Domantas Sabonis is out for the season after knee surgery, and leading scorer Zach LaVine is also sidelined. In their absence, the team struggled offensively against the Magic.
Rookie Maxime Reynaud provided a rare bright spot with 17 points and 14 rebounds starting in place of Sabonis. However, the Kings' path forward looks bleak, with upcoming games against the Spurs, Grizzlies, Rockets, and Mavericks. The team now holds a clear three-win "lead" for the NBA's worst record, positioning them for a top draft pick in 2026.
