Tempers boiled over in the final minutes of South Alabama's victory over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, sparking a large-scale brawl on the court. The altercation resulted in a referee being knocked unconscious and numerous ejections.

Coastal Carolina's Tracey Hueston and South Alabama's Cordasia Harris were central to the fight. Hueston was ejected, and seven South Alabama players were thrown out, including key starters and top scorers Harris, Daniela Gonzalez, and Amyah Sutton.

Four additional South Alabama players—Jeriyah Baines, Saneea Bevley, Terren Coffil, and Princess Okafor Nweze—were ejected for leaving the bench during the incident. Ejections for fighting often carry a one-game suspension, potentially leaving South Alabama severely shorthanded for its next game.

Despite the turmoil, South Alabama, a No. 12 seed, won the game 80-70 and advanced to the third round of the Sun Belt Championship. The team is scheduled to face Texas State on Thursday.
