A Double Blow for Minnesota
The Minnesota Timberwolves encountered a challenging scenario during Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets, as two of their key starters were forced to exit the court due to injuries before halftime. Both Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards were ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
DiVincenzo’s Season-Ending Setback
Donte DiVincenzo’s night ended prematurely after just over a minute of play. According to reports, the guard suffered a non-contact injury which was later diagnosed as a torn right Achilles tendon. The incident occurred shortly after a missed three-point attempt as he pivoted to chase the rebound.
Following the 110-96 victory, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch expressed the team's collective sorrow:
“Completely devastating for Donte. He’s had such a great season. He’s the heart and soul of so many things that we do. You could see the look in his eye when it happened and you knew. We’ll love him and be there for him.”
Though DiVincenzo initially walked to the locker room unassisted, he was later seen on the broadcast in a wheelchair with a splint cast on his leg.
Edwards Exits with Knee Injury
Just before the halftime buzzer, disaster struck again when Anthony Edwards landed awkwardly, appearing to hyperextend his left knee. The star player clearly showed his frustration on the court before requiring assistance to reach the locker room.
After halftime assessments, the team confirmed Edwards would not return. He is currently undergoing further evaluations to determine the severity of the knee issue. Mike Conley took over point guard duties to help fill the void left by Edwards.
Overcoming Adversity
Despite these significant losses, Minnesota managed to secure a crucial win. While Denver held a slight edge through the middle quarters, the Timberwolves rallied in the fourth to take the game.
A standout performance from Ayo Dosunmu was instrumental in the victory. The reserve guard delivered a career-best 43 points, becoming only the fourth player in the history of the NBA to record 40 or more points off the bench in a playoff matchup.
