De'Von Achane is set to remain a vital component of the Miami Dolphins' offensive attack for the foreseeable future. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Achane and the Dolphins successfully negotiated a four-year contract extension on Wednesday, valued at up to $68 million, with $32 million in guaranteed salary.


Setting a New Market Benchmark

This deal marks a significant financial milestone for the young star. By securing this contract, Achane has exceeded the four-year, $48 million extension previously signed by James Cook of the Buffalo Bills. With an annual average value of $17 million, Achane now stands as the third-highest-paid running back in the NFL, behind only Christian McCaffrey ($19 million) and Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million).


Strategic Importance to the Franchise

Despite previous roster shuffles—including the notable departure of wide receiver Jaylen Waddle—Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan consistently emphasized that Achane was not on the trading block. Sullivan has openly identified the running back as a cornerstone of the organization, alongside teammates Aaron Brewer and Jordyn Brooks. With Achane’s contract secured, the front office is expected to prioritize extensions for Brewer and Brooks, as both are entering the final year of their existing deals.
